ARI Chairman William Bratton and Senior Managing Director Bob Viteretti provide insight on workplace violence and employee protection

NEW YORK, NY, April 19, 2010 – Altegrity Risk International (ARI) Chairman William Bratton and Senior Managing Director Bob Viteretti, who leads ARI’s Investigative & Forensic Services practice, will provide their expertise at a special EpsteinBeckerGreen (EBG) program designed to provide legal and practical guidance to help employers address the issues of workplace violence, identify “red flags of caution,” and implement appropriate safeguards to avoid problems. The half-day program will be held on Tuesday, April 27, at The Yale Club of New York.

ARI, which provides high-quality investigative, analytic, consulting, and security services to businesses around the world, is joining EBG to present this specialized program that is directed toward professionals who monitor workplace violence issues, including company general counsel, in-house counsel, human resources, security, and administrators of Employee Assistance Programs.

During the April 27 program, Mr. Viteretti will provide information and cite real-life examples based on his practical experience in establishing and monitoring compliance policies and programs in more than 100 countries around the globe; past leadership of New York state and city investigations and inspector general positions; and leading work on major, precedent-setting cases as a former prosecutor.

According to EBG, each day in the United States, there are 16,400 workplace threats of violence, 723 attacks on workers, and 43,800 acts of harassment, bullying, and other threatening behavior. Workplace violence costs businesses more than $120 billion annually. Yet, as of 2005, less than 30 percent of employers had workplace violence policies and programs, and only about 20 percent provided training for the prevention of workplace violence.

EBG provides client service in its areas of health care and life sciences, labor and employment, litigation, real estate, business law, employee benefits, and immigration. EBG has approximately 350 lawyers practicing in 11 offices throughout the U.S. and represents entities from Fortune 100 companies to startups.
