ARI Chairman William Bratton to Speak at Aspen Security Forum
NEW YORK, NY, May 11, 2010 –
Altegrity Risk International (ARI) Chairman William Bratton, who established his reputation in the law enforcement and criminal justice communities as one of America’s premier police chiefs, will speak at the
Aspen Security Forum with New York City Police Department Commissioner Raymond Kelly on Wednesday, June 30, on the topic: Local Law Enforcement Perspective: View from the Front.
In his prepared remarks, Mr. Bratton will discuss how homeland security is ultimately about hometown security. The real lesson re-learned following the recent attempted terrorism attacks in the U.S. is that local law enforcement, when empowered with information, training, and resources, can protect their communities from violent crime—including violent crime related to terrorism.
The Aspen Security Forum is an initiative of the Aspen Institute and brings together leading figures from various fields including government, business, medicine, energy and the environment, science and technology, media, and more. The Forum will feature speeches and panel presentations on aviation security; maritime security; border security; mass transit security; emergency preparedness; intelligence; counterterrorism strategy; "soft targets" and critical infrastructure protection (especially cyber-security).
Roughly 50 speakers and another 300 participants are expected. Among confirmed speakers to date are Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen; House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson; former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff; and former White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser Fran Townsend.
